Personally I think it would be impeccably cruel to keep an animal in a University accommodation bedroom.
Can you have pets in college dorms. Does Michigan State University allow pets. Even more the actual animals that would be allowed on campus would have to be defined exactly. This is something most college students do not like or agree with.
However if you really want a fuzzy pet you can try and work out something with housing and residence life no guarantees but you might be able to keep a hamster or something. While some colleges allow small pets like fish or hamsters in dorms dogs are much more difficult to. College staff cant ask you to prove or explain your disability according to the ADA though they can ask about the pet being a service animal and what it has been trained to do.

The University does allows service animals service animals in training support animals and certain other animals on University property as described in this regulation.
